DDR3 SDRAM Memory-RAM Upgrade

The major concern that all the computer users have is that how much RAM is actually required in your system. This concern requires repeated evaluations once every year, and also with launch of newer Windows version. While some depends on the discretion of individuals, there are many other factors that influence the amount of RAM requirements as well. In the Windows XP or Vista platform 512MB of RAM is considered the minimum memory capacity that is required for the execution of the system. But it has to be noticed that anything less than 1GB of memory would have noticeable impact on the working of the computers as such, as the data would be stacked up in the hard drive of the system, impacting the performance of the computers, making it slow down commendably. To some people it may seem like an exaggerated set up, however considering the fact that RAM prices have dropped phenomenally it is not next to impossible where people cannot afford to put in the required amounts of RAM in the system.

It is not as if increasing the RAM in your system at an exorbitant price would be able to do wonders to your system. Though it would be, but to what extent is important to consider. If the basic utility that your system is being put to is for doing the data processing and also some other utilities in the form of internet accessing etc, then probably you do not need a big huge amount of RAM in your system. If the system has 256 MB of RAM but you have requirements for over 400 MB of RAM, then it is advisable that you get 512 MB of RAM update in your system. This would increase the performance of the system by fifty percent. And if the RAM is increased from 512 MB to 1GB there is further increase in its performance. However it would be totally inappropriate to think that if you keep on increasing RAM at this pace the performance factor in your PC would keep on increasing at the same pace.

This is not true as the PC has a maximum capacity to which it can perform to. If you are not able to keep up with that then there system reaches a plateau because of which there would not be any other growth and the system would not be able to perform more than that. Therefore unnecessary increase in the RAM would just lead to growth in the number of RAM capacity, where as it is not essential that the RAM would be lying unutilized in the system, Therefore if your system is capable of handling 1GB of RAM and you have about 4GB RAM in your system then the excess amount is just lying unused. You could choose not to increase the RAM if you do not have requirements for the same. Therefore it is always advised that you should check about your utility in terms of capacity before investing in RAM for your system otherwise you would be just wasting money on the unused RAM content.
